It’s the mind that generates inspiration – when the conditions are right. Looking at how we experience inspiration, there seem to be three levels. This brings me to a story of my own.
Find read articles in books and articles. When your motivation starts to slump read about people who have achieved the goal you want. Keep several articles of this type ready for use. Read them over and over whenever you need them.
Inspiration also helps an individual utilize his potential to the maximum. When you truly believe in yourself, you are in a state where you are one with the work you are doing. You are not bothered by distractions. You wish to give it your all.
True motivation must come from within. Each one of us makes the final decision on our “engagement.” How engaged, or motivated we are about something can be influenced by outside factors, but like “The Donald”, in the end, what we say goes. Unlike Trump, many of us don’t take advantage of that opportunity.
Now you’re all fired up with enough motivation to conquer the world – and your energy levels are through the roof! You leap out of bed in the morning and head to the gym. Workout finished you shower and head to the office, spending your day making every big deal your competitors can’t. You’re moving and grooving, rocking down the house and demolishing the obstacles that stray into your path. You head home and leave your spouse tired, sore and sporting a silly grin that just won’t go away. Life is FANTASTIC and can only get better…
The first type of motivation is call Away From (AF) motivation and the source of energy and drive is derived by the fact that you want to be away from something.
Self-discipline is not a part of motivation. If you take all the motivation in the world but fail to exercise self-discipline and put action behind it you will fail. Failing is OK if you learn from your failures and change the things that made you fail in the first place. But if your failure if due to a lack of action then it’s not really failure it simply a lack of action. Self-discipline requires you to actually go forward with your goals. Take regular small steps towards your final achievement destination. Motivation by itself won’t get you there. The only thing that will make your dreams come true is action.
This is a day you will remember for the rest of your life, so make sure to take the time to figure out exactly what you want. Try not to get discouraged with too many outside opinions. And most importantly, don’t forget, this is your day!!
